52nd CHARTER NIGHT CELEBRATION

held at the Queen's Hall, Watton

on 13th October 2006

55 Members and Guests attended

including the President of Watton Inner Wheel Club

 and the Presidents of the Rotary Clubs of Brandon

 and our mother Club Dereham.

An excellent meal was served by Pollyanna (outside caterers)

and music was provided by Leslie J Roberts. This one man band has played at our Charter Nights for a number of years but he is retiring at Christmas and the Club presented him with a 'Best Wishes' card.

Emily Creed  and her accompanist Charlotte White entertained the gathering with a selection of songs written by themselves. Prior to her performance, AG John Samuel presented her with the trophy she had won (see below) which had been mislaid at the time.

At the Rotary Meeting of 29th June, President Ivan Chubbock handed over the badges of office to Martin Anscombe, also a  'second-timer',  ready for the new 2006-2007 year starting on 1st July.

Watton Rotary's 2006 Young Designer Award Winners 

Emily Creed of the Wayland Community High School is our winner for this year's Young Designer Award. On the left she is shown at the District 1080 finals where she was the runner up. Below: Emily with Head of Design Technology Sandra Pillay, President Ivan, teacher Val Wenham and Rtn Peter Beech our liaison and co-ordinator with the school. .


Here Emily is shown receiving her award from President Ivan at the Club Meeting on 8th June 2006. The District Award included £50 for her & £50 for the school.

This young lady, Michelle Marham, was one of 13 Wayland Community High School students who were entered into the Rotary District 1080 Young Designer Logo Competition. She was the overall District winner and received a certificate & cheque for £50.

On 22 June, President Ivan presented the Club's Annual Vocational Awards to, on his right, Paul Adcock, Chairman of the Watton Junior Hockey Club, winners of the Group Award, and on his left, Chris Dalton, a teacher for 17 years at Wayland Community High School. 


This was a great success for a 'first' and has already raised money for our Charity Fund.

 A CD with some 200 photos of  the 2006 Tractor Run is available for £5.00 - for our Charity Fund.
